THE A.L.M. GROUP
NYS Security Instructor Development Course (IDC)
The Security Instructor Certification Course (IDC) is a one (1) week certification course mandated by the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services in order to become a Certified Security Guard Instructor.
Upon successful completion of this course, each student will be a certified security guard instructor. This certification will allow new instructors to conduct training at state approved security guard training school in the State of New York. The certification will also allow new instructors to set up their own school. The instructor certification expires in 5 years from the date of course completion and will be renewed by application and required fee. The goal of this course is to assist instructor candidates in developing the ability to research, prepare and communicate that knowledge to others.
A significant portion of the course will be devoted to developing the ability to use these skills in presenting training material. Each participant will gain practical experience by giving several oral presentations before the group. The training materials are specific and are designed to maximize the efficiency with which all trainees achieve the specified objectives.
Being an instructor requires more than standing before a class and disseminating information. It requires hard work and discipline in preparing for and presenting information which is ACCURATE. Further, the instructor must know something about adults and how they learn. The instructor’s presence here demonstrates that the instructor has both an interest and willingness to be effective in the classroom. That is the first ingredient for success.
